Party nominates probable candidates

Srinagar, Nov 2: National Conference (NC) today nominated the constituency in-charges for 47 Assembly segments across Kashmir in a step towards the preparations for the upcoming elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
The constituency in-charges appear to be the party candidates for the next Assembly elections whenever they are announced by the Election Commission of India.
However, Abdullahs are missing from the list but they can’t be constituency incharges but can make entry in the list of candidates once the elections are announced. The constituencies can be Lal Chowk, Ganderbal or Hazratbal. Although Omar has been making assertions that he will not contest assembly polls after he was released from Hari Niwas guest house, he will take the final decision at the appropriate time.
The list is an indication that NC may go solo in these elections and may not contest polls under the banner of the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD).
It may be mentioned here that in August 2022 NC passed a resolution in the presence of its vice president Omar Abdullah, that NC will contest all 90 Assembly on its own but senior Abdullah later said that a decision on polls will be taken only when they are announced.
Ishfaq Jabbar, former MLA from Ganderbal has not found a place in the list as he has been critical of the NC recently and is close to the present establishment headed by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha who recently visited Ganderbal to pay tribute on his father’s 32nd death anniversary.
His father-in-law Mohammad Syed Akhoon is also missing from the list. Akhoon represented Hazaratbal constituency between 1996-2008 and was Abdullah loyalist. However, in 2008, Farooq Abdullah contested from there and later in 2009 Mustafa Kamal was elected in by-polls. However, in 2014 elections Akhoon lost election to PDP’s Aasiya Naqash. NC has made Salman Sagar constituency incharge of Hazratbal instead of Akhoon.
From Chanpora, Gulmarg, Pattan, Uri and Sonawari, Mushtaq Gurr, Farooq Ahmad Shah, Reyaz Bedar, Dr Sajjad Shafi and Advocate Hilal Akbar Lone are NC candidates from these constituencies so they have been made constituency incharges.
The probable candidates include:
Kafeel-Ur- Rehman (Karnah), Saifullah Mir (Trehgam), Nasir Aslam Wani (Sogami) (Kupwara), Qaiser Jamsheed Lone (Lolab), Choudhary Mohammad Ramzaan (Handwara), Shafqat Watali (Langate), Irshad Ahmad Kar (Sopore), Javed Ahmad Dar (Rafiabad), Dr Sajjad Uri (Uri), Ghulam Hassan Rahi (Baramulla), Farooq Ahmad Shah (Tangmarg), Mohammad Yaqoob Wani (Wagoora), Reyaz Ahmad Bedar (Pattan), Hilal Akbar Lone (Sonawari), Nazir Ahmad Malik (Bandipora), Nazir Ahmad Khan (Gurezi) (Gurez) (ST), Mian Altaf (Kangan) (ST), Ghulam Nabi Rather (Ganderbal), Salman Ali Sagar (Hazratbal), Ali Mohammad Sagar (Khanyar), Shameema Firdous (Habba Kadal), Ahsan Pardesi (Lal Chowk), Mushtaq Guroo (Channapora), Tanvir Sadiq (Zadibal), Mubarak Gul (Eidgah), Irfan Shah (Batamaloo), Aga Ruhullah (Budgam), Dr Mohammad Shafi (Beerwah), Saifudin Bhat (Khan Sahib), Ab Rahim Rather (Char-i-Sharief), Ali Mohammad Dar (Chadoora), Justice (Retd) Hasnain Masoodi (Pampore), Dr Ghulam Nabi Bhat (Tral), Mohammad Khalil Bandh (Pulwama), Gh Mohiudin Mir (Rajpora), Showkat Ganaie (Zainpora), Sheikh Mohammad Rafi (Shopian), Sakina Itoo (D.H.
