IWMP conducts training for DDCs, BDCs, PRIs

JAMMU, July 25: The Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP) has successfully conducted first of its kind ‘Capacity Building Programme’ for the District Development Council (DDC) members, Block Development Council (BDC) members and Panchayat representatives of the sanctioned project areas at National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Hyderabad.
The Chief Executive Officer, J&K IWMP, Dr Bharat Bhushan said that a group of 48 members comprising of DDCs, BDCs and Panchayat representatives of the project areas equally from Jammu and Kashmir divisions were sent to National Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Hyderabad for undergoing three days extensive training on various aspects of the implementation of the watershed development component of Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana in J&K.
“The trainees were imparted indoor as well as outdoor training with effect from July 17 to 19 and have now returned to the UT,” he informed.
Dr Keshva Rao, Head of the Department, Dr NSR Prasad, Assistant Professor and other eminent faculty from the Department of Centre for Geo Informatics Applications in Rural Development conducted the training sessions.
The trainees thanked the UT administration for taking the vital step of taking along public representatives in the developmental front and expressed confidence that they can now better understand and implement the Yojana in their respective areas.
