NEW DELHI, Jan 6: Israel’s water purification firm Water-Gen is in talks with domestic companies for making a foray into the Indian market this year.
The company plans to launch its products in India this year and aims “a billion US dollar” revenue from Indian operations in five-six years.
“We have been approached by many companies in India to partner with for launching products with Water-Gen technology. We will launch our products this year. We believe Indian market has a huge potential and we are looking a revenue of a billion USD in 5-6 years,” Water-Gen Founder President and Co-CEO Arye Kohavi told.
The company plans to set up a manufacturing and research and development (R&D) centre in India.
“Once we have finalised on our partner in India we will set up manufacturing facility and R&D centre in the country. We will also use India as an export hub and export our products to countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia and African countries,” he said.
Water-Gen specialises in generation of drinking water from air and also offers water purification solutions.
On Water-Gen technology, he said: “We are entering India with solutions that reduces the dependence on water bodies for production of clean and safe drinking water. We are looking forward to explore India, partner with domestic players and provide the nation with healthy drinking water.”
The company, which has been selling its products to defence customers such as US Army, UK Army, French Army and Israel Defense Force, aims to sell its products to civilian customers in India.
“India is a huge market and we will start with India to sell our products to civilian customers,” he said while adding that Water-Gen has been invited by the Gujarat Government to take part in Vibrant Gujarat summit 2015.
The company will be showcase its technology at the Israel Country Pavilion during the event. (PTI)
