JAMMU, Oct 22: Amateur Theatre Group (ATG) has been invited to showcase its most acclaimed and scintillating presentation “Ishq Malangi” by one of the largest theatre assemblies in the subcontinent, Qadir Ali Baig Theatre Festival in its 12th edition which is going to be held at Hyderabad in Telangana.
This was said by Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee and Director ATG, Mushtaq Kak during a press conference, here today. The 10-day, multi-venue, multi-lingual festival this year will feature a host of the best plays from across the country and overseas.
Kak informed that the Theatre Festival will feature some of the best productions from across the country and will host 150 artistes, playwrights and technicians performing plays in multiple languages at various venues across the city for 10 days. Telangana`s flagship theatre festival is credited with Hyderabad’s theatre revival and it is curated by Padmashri recipient Mohammad Ali Baig to pay tribute to his father, Hindustani theatre legend late Qadir Ali Baig saheb.
Kak, who has directed more than 100 plays in Dogri, Hindi, English and in Sanskrit at various parts of the country and abroad stated that Ishq Malangi has already been staged at Mysore Theatre Festival and acclaimed as one of the outstanding presentations of Amateur Theatre Group.
The festival is being presented by Karvy and co-sponsored by Shadan Group of Institutions, in association with Golden Jubilee Hotels, Information and Public Relations Government of Telangana, British Council and British Film Institute, he stated.
