SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has handed over the case of irregularities and suspected misappropriation committed in hiring vehicles during 2014 elections to Crime Branch (CB) after the Accountant General (AG) audit pointed out certain cases.
This information was given by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, who also holds Home portfolio in the Legislative Assembly in reply to a question by Ranbir Singh Pathania.
The reply said the AG in the report dated March 28,2016 addressed to Director General of Police (DGP) has inter-alia pointed out certain irregularities and suspected misappropriation committed by certain Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDO) of police department in the carriage of constabulary and hiring of vehicles during the Parliamentary and Assembly elections 2014.
The Chief Minister said the DGP has referred the matter to the CB to initiate a time bound inquiry into the matter. While the inquiry report is awaited, a proposal to undertake a detailed audit through Finance Department in respect of expenditure incurred by all DDOs on carriage of constabulary during Parliament and Assembly elections 2014 is under consideration.
