JAMMU June 1: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) Minority Cell has expressed dismay over ignoring real representatives of Kashmiri Pandits with regard to their proposed rehabilitation by the Centre.
“So long the genuine representatives of the Kashmiri Pandits are not taken into confidence the issue cannot be resolved at all”, the Minority Cell stated at a meeting held under the Chairmanship of Mr Vijay Bakaya, former MLC at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan, while making an appeal to both the Union Government and the State Government to involve the grass root level representatives in the process so that fruitful and meaningful results may come out.
Prominent among those present in this meeting were Bushan  Lal Bhat Ex- MLC and chairman NC Minority Cell,  Anil Dhar, Provincial vice president  Jammu and M K Yogi   President , NC Minority Cell.
The Minority Cell observed that under the PM Employment Package jobs for  6000 youths had been earmarked in 2008 but till date  only 1800 got appointed. The Cell stressed upon the Central and State  Governments to implement it immediately in its letter  and spirit without   further delay, lest the community  will be forced to come on streets and responsibility will be of the both Governments.
The leaders of the Minority Cell took note of the situation that 67 families living in the erstwhile Purkhoo camp, who are still living there have no alternative accommodation due to poverty. “The water supply and electricity has been disconnected by the authorities to them and they are being harassed and threatened to be bulldozed and their tenements to be razed to ground forcibly in bid to remove them. This is most inhuman and tyrannical step of PDP – BJP Coalition Government”, they added.
In this regard the Minority Cell cautioned the Government and concerned authorities not to take any harsh step against the families living in the erstwhile camp never, lest the Minority Cell will come on the streets against this barbaric and in human act.
“The Government should immediately  constitute apex committee  of real and credible leadership  of KPs to speed up the process of return  of Kashmiri Pandits”, they said.
