This has reference to the news item ‘Security environment congenial for MNCs’ DE Oct 6.
Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi invitation to big industrial houses to invest in Jammu and Kashmir is a welcome step. It will be a healthy development in case business houses are interested in setting up their industrial units here. Not only industrial scenario of the State will change, it will create vast employment opportunities for the State subjects. The last 20 years of militancy gave a severe setback to industrial sector here. The loss incurred to the industry gears up to the challenge. Otherwise, there is no chance for the industry to come out from the present situation.
However, it may not be easy for the business houses to set up their shops here unless peace prevail here. Peace is a pre requisite for healthy industrial scene. Besides, there are other issues involved with it. One of them is availability of electricity. The way electricity was supplied to people this year would even make the established houses to move to other places. The Government should take these issues seriously and find a way out.
