SAMBA, Feb 19: A two-day Intra-District Volleyball Tournament commenced at SPPND Government Degree College (GDC) Samba. The event was graced by Prof. (Dr.) Twinkle Suri, Principal of the college, who attended as the chief guest. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Pankaj Bandhoria, Convener of the Sports Board at GDC Samba.
The participating colleges included GDC Samba, GDC Vijaypur, GDC Ramgarh, and GDC Ghagwal. The tournament began with an exciting match between GDC Samba and GDC Ghagwal, followed by a second match between GDC Vijaypur and GDC Ramgarh. The first match ended with a decisive 2-0 victory for GDC Samba and GDC Ramgarh triumphed in their match with a similar scoreline.
Prof. Twinkle Suri congratulated the winning teams for their exceptional performance and emphasized that the tournament aimed to encourage teamwork, discipline, and self-confidence among students. She added that such initiatives play a crucial role in channelizing students’ energy toward physical fitness and mental well-being.
Assoc. Prof. Narayan Dutt, HOD of Physics and Dr. Banpreet Kour, IQAC Coordinator, were also present on the occasion. The event was coordinated by Prof. Meenakshi Thakur, Co-Convener of the Sports Board and Pradeep.
