JAMMU, June 26: An International documentary shoot for Pain and Palliative Care Services being provided by Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar Jammu under Directorate of Health Services Jammu was conducted by Michelle Chua- Executive Producer, LIEN Foundation (Lien Centre for Palliative Care) and APHN (Asian Pacific Hospice and Palliative Care Network) Singapore and her team of 3 other members.
The shoot was conducted as a part of BBC initiative on the directions of HoD Onco-Anaesthesia, Pain & Palliative Care AIIMS New Delhi Dr Sushma Bhatnagar. The Documentary will be telecasted globally in six episodes of 30 minutes each. The photo shoot of other parts of the Hospital was also done.
The Team accompanied by Director Health Services (DHS) Jammu Dr Rajeev Kumar Sharma and Medical Superintendent Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar Jammu Dr Parveen Yograj interacted with the patients admitted in Palliative Care ward of Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
An interactive and introductory session was also organized by Interventional Pain and Palliative Care Specialist and Nodal Officer National Programme for Palliative Care Dr Rohit Lahori who presented the achievements of Palliative Care Department of Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar and other hospitals of Jammu Division.
The visiting team also visited far-flung areas of Jammu division and met the patients and their care givers. They enquired about the Pain and Palliative Care Services provided to them and the availability of Opioids for the management of pain associated with the terminal disease. This was part of the documentary of LIEN.
It is pertinent to mention that Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar (Jammu) was the first hospital in J&K to start Palliative Care Services and is the only District Hospital in Northern India to be selected as the centre for ICMR Project (Hand holding for Palliative Care) among top ten premier hospitals of Northern India.
