Internet services extended

JAMMU, Mar 17: The Home Department of Jammu and Kashmir Government today extended its earlier order allowing access to all websites on 2G mobile data services and fixed line internet in the Union Territory till March 26, 2020.
According to an order in this regard, issued today, the directions/restrictions contained in Government order number 17(TSTS) of 2020, dated 04-03-2020 shall continue to remain operative till March 26, 2020, unless modified earlier
The fresh order was issued on consideration of the overall security scenario and the reports of the law enforcement agencies inter-alia bringing out the necessity of speed related restrictions on mobile data services to prevent misuse of social media applications.
As per the March 4 order, the internet speed on mobile data service will be restricted to 2G only and the post paid SIM card holders would continue to get access to the internet. However, the internet services would not be made available on pre-paid SIM cards unless verified as per the norms applicable for postpaid connections. Fixed line internet connectivity would continue to be made available with Mac Binding.
