Sir,
The Government’s decision to resume internet services in Kargil is more than welcome.
After a gap of almost 145 days internet services were suspended in the region following abrogation of Art 370 and Art 35 A. The suspension of services was a precautionary step to avoid untoward incidents in this peaceful region.
During this period, the people suffered very much. Students and traders were hard hit. Now with the resumption of service people have heaved a sigh of relief, expecting that they would again get connected with the rest of the world.
The restoration has come at a time when Ladakh division is physically cut off from the country due to closure of Srinagar-Leh national highway on account of heavy snowfall in the region. It may not be out of place to mention here that in absence of road and air connectivity people in this region suffer much on many fronts.
These sufferings alleviate to some extent only after road connectivity is restored. The resumption of Internet service will to some extent revive trade activities and give students a chance to use it for education purposes. Better late than never.
