JAMMU, Sept 11: J&K Society for Promotion of youths and Masses, observed International Youth Day under project Vihaan for the people living with HIV/AIDS, following the directions of India HIV/AIDS Alliance and NACO for the observance.
The function was started with welcome address by Santosh Kumari, Project Coordinator, Vihaan Project, Care and Support Centre for people living with HIV/AIDS. She welcomes Rajesh Sharma, Assistant Director Youth Affairs, JKSACS and Radhika Goswami, GIPA Coordinator, JKSAPCS and members belonging to HIV/AIDS community.
Rajesh Sharma threw light on the need of awareness about HIV among the youth so that its prevention could be done.
The activities of “Project Vihaan” care and support centre for PLHIV were highlighted by Santosh Kumari, Project Coordinator, CSC Vihaan and the facilities that can be availed by them at the centre along with the mission of improving the quality of life and survival of PLHIVs.
Navneet Kour, Counsellor, CSC Vihaan told about the preventive measure of HIV and said that youth who are aware about it should create further awareness.
A symposium on the topic “ Positive living and prevention in youth living with HIV/AIDS” was thereafter held for the community members and they actively participated.
At the cash prizes were distributed among the winners. The function was concluded with formal vote of thanks.
