International Yoga Day celebrated with enthusiasm across J&K, Ladakh

JAMMU, June 21: Eighth International Yoga Day with the theme ‘Yoga for Humanity’ was celebrated with great enthusiasm across both the union territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh today.
To mark the Day, an event was inaugurated by Chief Justice of High Court of J&K and Ladakh Justice Pankaj Mithal at High Court Complex, Srinagar. Likewise, a programme led by Justice Rahul Bharti, Judge High Court of J&K and Ladakh, was held at High Court Complex, Jammu. The event was attended by the Registrar General, Registrar Vigilance, Member Secretary, J&K Legal Services Authority, registrar Inspection, Principal Secretary to Chief Justice, Registrar Judicial, Srinagar/ Jammu, Secretary, High court Legal Services Committee and other officers of the registry of both the wings of the High Court, besides advocates and staff of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh.

Similar programmes were held in all Subordinate Courts of UTs of J&K and Ladakh wherein a large number of participants performed Yog Asanas along with Yog instructors who also described their importance and impact on the flexibility of human body and mind. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Justice stressed upon all the participants to include Yoga in their daily life to remain physically and mentally fit, besides relieving themselves from stressful life. He said that making Yoga a way of life would go a long way in the discharge of judicial functions and enhancing the efficiency and efficacy of not only the judicial officers but also all the stakeholders.
Northern Army Commander Lt General Upendra Dwivedi, who is on a four-day visit to Ladakh, led over 1.75 lakh troops and 75,000 families of the Northern Command to perform yoga at the forward areas of eastern Ladakh at a height beyond 15,000 feet. A large number of soldiers under the operational control of northern command and their families performed yoga with great enthusiasm throughout the command areas in the union territories of J&K and Ladakh.

Addressing the officers/officials, the Army Commander said yoga is promoted as a way of life in the Army, especially for the troops deployed in mountainous and high altitude areas of Northern Command. He complimented the soldiers for incorporating Yoga Asanas into their daily routine in extreme high altitude areas and harsh climatic conditions to combat psychological stress and fatigue. He exhorted the troops to practice yoga to further expand their horizons of physical and mental capacities.
In connection with International Yoga Day, District Legal Services Authority Jammu organized a Yoga camp at District Headquarter Jammu and also in the courts falling under the jurisdiction of District Court Jammu. All the Judicial Officers posted at District Headquarter Jammu participated in the camp under the leadership of Chairman District Legal Services Authority Jammu Sanjay Parihar (Principal District & Sessions Judge). Similar Camps were also organized by TLSC Bishnah and TLSC R S Pura.
Jammu Club celebrated the Day with great enthusiasm by performing Yog Aasans in the lawns of the Club. The celebrations began with the lighting of ceremonial lamp by Gaurav Gupta, Secretary of the Club. Anu Mahajan, Yoga Instructor, demonstrated various Yoga Aasans in front of the Club members.
Gaurav Gupta, in his message, highlighted the significance of Yoga in discovering inner peace, transforming body and mind. He urged the Club members to practice Yoga and adopt a balanced and healthy life-style to stay fit and overcome diseases. Members of the managing committee of the Club Dr Uttam Singh, Ashok Gandotra, Dr Sandeep Singh, Kavita Gupta, Ashwani Gupta and Ajay Sabherwal were also present on the occasion.
A grand celebration of International Yoga Day was organized at the Central University of Jammu. About 200 people, including all the deans, heads of departments, officers, registrars, research scholars and students of the university practiced the Asanas of Yoga from 6:30 AM to 8 AM. The program was presided over by the Vice Chancellor Prof Sanjeev Jain.
Department of Physical Education, School of Education in collaboration with the Department of Students Welfare (DSW), Central University of Kashmir (CUK) celebrated Yoga Day at varsity’s Green Campus. Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor, Prof Farooq Ahmad Shah highlighted the importance of Yoga. The event also marked the conclusion of three-week workshop on yoga which was kick started on 1st of June.
Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) organized International Yoga Day. Chief Guest Archit Puri (vice chairman of CII), in his address, explained the importance of practicing Yoga. Around 150 students participated in the 15-day Yoga Camp (organized by the Directorate) that concluded today.
The celebrations were also held at Kathua Campus of University of Jammu under the patronage of Dr Meenakshi Kilam, Rector of the Campus. A Yoga session was organized to sensitize the participants to stay motivated and lead a healthy lifestyle by practicing yoga in their daily lives.
The University of Kashmir joined the nation-wide Yoga celebrations with great fervour and enthusiasm. The event was organized by the varsity’s Directorate of Physical Education and Sports (DPES). Vice-Chancellor Prof Nilofer Khan presided over the mega event and urged the participants to practice Yoga Asnas daily to attain physical fitness. Earlier, a two-day yoga workshop was conducted by DPES for the students and staff of the University.
The NSS unit of SMVDU in collaboration with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Regional Office Jammu celebrated International Yoga Day. Vice-Chancellor SMVDU, Prof R K Sinha was the chief guest of the event. The Yoga Session was conducted by Gurmel (Yoga instructor) and more than 400 participants attended the session.
Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-Jammu) celebrated the Day by performing various Yoga Aasanas at University Sports Complex, Main Campus, Chatha. Vice-Chancellor SKUAST-Jammu, Prof JP Sharma in his message to the students and faculty members said yoga would increase confidence level and regular practice helps to enhance self-motivation.
Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University observed the 8th International Yoga Day with greater zeal and fervour at its Yoga Centre. The Yoga Instructors initially briefed about the essence of Yogic exercises and thereafter held a 1-hour practice session with a demonstration of Yoga Asanas. Vice-Chancellor Prof Akbar Masood practiced Yoga along with other participants.
The Day was celebrated with great eagerness and enthusiasm at the University of Ladakh, Leh campus, Taru. Vice-Chancellor Prof S K Mehta; Prof. Manju Singh, MNIT, Jaipur; Director Leh Campus, University of Ladakh, Konchok Angmo; Dean Research, Dr. Sonam Joldan; coordinators of various Departments, faculty member and students were present in the event. Around 100 students and staff participated and performed Yogasan and Pranayam.
International Day of Yoga was celebrated with great enthusiasm at IGNOU Regional Centre, Jammu. Dr Shreyansh Kumar Jain, internationally acclaimed Yoga expert was the chief guest on the occasion. The entire staff of the Regional Centre participated in the yoga celebrations. Dr Shreyansh demonstrated a number of Yoga Asanas and simultaneously explained about the benefits of each asana.
A 21-day yoga camp organized in connection with International Yoga Day, concluded today at Central Sanskrit University, Shri Ranbir Campus, Jammu. On the last day of the ceremony, a yoga programme was organized in the premises of Government Higher Secondary School, Bhalwal. Later, the closing ceremony of the event was organized at Shri Ranbir Campus of the University.
International Yoga Day was celebrated by the faculties, students and staff at the hostel premises of Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), Northern Regional Campus, Jammu. They performed different types of yoga like Pranayama, Yoga Asana, Surya Namaskar, chanting Gayatri Mantra and Om.
Acharya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences & Hospital (ASCOMS) celebrated Yoga Day in the College campus wherein approximately 200 students and 40 staff members participated. Director Principal, Dr Pavan Malhotra while speaking said that Yoga should be performed cutting across the religious barriers as Yoga exercises are beneficial for controlling the mind.
To mark the Day, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board in collaboration with Patanjali Yogpeeth organized the Yog Divas at its Sports Complex, Katra. Speaking on the occasion, Anshul Garg, Chief Executive Officer, SMVDSB said that Yoga has served humanity in mitigating sufferings during the COVID-19 Pandemic. The Yoga sessions were also organized at Bhawan, Adhkuwari, Sanjichhat and Bhairon.
The Day was also celebrated in GMC Jammu, wherein a function was held in the pharmacology hall of GMC Jammu and live relay of the programme of PM Narendra Modi was shown. Dr Shashi Sudhan Sharma, Principal GMC Jammu attended the programme and said that Yoga is important for everyone and making it a routine will help everyone stay fit and healthy.
GMC Rajouri also celebrated International Yoga Day under the leadership of the Incharge Principal Dr Shashi Sudhan Sharma.
Celebrating the International Yoga Day, the Government Dental College (GDC) Jammu concluded the month-long activities, which were organized in collaboration with Directorate of National Ayush Mission. During the month long activities, the different resources persons apprised the students and faculty for adopting yoga for their own well being.
An event was organized at JDA Park in collaboration with Jammu Municipal Corporation and NSS unit of GCOE, Jammu. The participants were given T-shirts to mark the International Yoga day.
During the programme Yog Gurus performed various Asanas. A number of people took part in the event that highlighted the essence and importance of Yoga. On the occasion, JMC Mayor Chandramohan Gupta stressed on the importance of Yoga and said that Yoga should be made an integral part of our lives.
NSS Programme Officer of GCOE Dr Shubhra Jamwal administered pledge to the participants for making Jammu city clean, green and healthy. Prof Shapia Shameem Bhatti of GCOE also participated in the event.
Maulana Azad Memorial (MAM) College concluded month-long activities by celebrating ‘International Yoga Day’ under the banner of Holistic Health and Yoga Club. The event was organized on the theme “Yoga for Humanity’ which was convened by Dr Gurdeep Kour and Prof Kaushal Kiran Thakur.
The Day was celebrated enthusiastically by GDC Kunjwani under the guidance of College Principal Prof Hans Raj and coordinated by Prof Baljinder Kour and Dr Narinder Paul Sharma. The faculty and students performed various yogic exercises like ‘Yoga Asans’ and ‘Pranayams’.
The NSS units of Padma Shri Padma Sachdev Government PG College for Women Gandhi Nagar celebrated the Yoga Day by organizing a three-day event under the guidance of College Principal Prof Minu Mahajan wherein in large numbers of volunteers participated in the various activities including poster making. The event concluded with performing yogic exercises, conducted by Komal Gupta, Yoga Instructor of KC International.
Observing the Day, the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan organized an event on “Yoga Aasans” in Government College for Women Parade in collaboration with the NSS, NCC wing as well as Department of Sanskrit wherein State Director NYKS Nisar Ahmed Butt and Deputy Director, NYK Kathua Som Dutt Zard were the chief guest and guest of honour, respectively.
The NSS Unit in collaboration with NCC of GDC RS Pura observed the Yoga Day under the guidance of the College Principal Prof Sunil Uppal and IQAC Co-ordinator, Dr Jai Pal. Participants performed various activities related to yoga.
The NSS unit of GDC Ramgarh organized a day-long workshop on the topic ‘The Profession and Business of Yoga’ under the guidance of College Principal, Prof Meeru Abrol, wherein Sahil Sharma, a Yoga expert was the resource person.
A Yoga session on the occasion of International Day was held at GDC Mahanpur which was coordinated and organized by NSS unit in collaboration with Scouts and Guides unit, EBSB and Department of Physical Education under the guidance of College Principal Dr Rakesh Kumar Koul. Prof Rupalee Jasrotia acted as a Yoga Instructor during the session.
Eco Club in collaboration with NSS unit of GDC Bishnah organized one day workshop to celebrate 8th International Yoga Day wherein Ritu Sharma of Kendra Pramukh Zila Bishnah of Bhartiya Yog Sanasthan J&K was the resource person.
The Yoga Day was observed at Sai Shyam College of Education and Sai Shyam Public School wherein yoga instructor, Afreen Kour guided the participating students and staff about the importance of the Day and performed various yogic exercises.
The NSS and NCC units of GDC Sunderbani in collaboration with cultural committee celebrated the Day by holding series of activities including video clips while performing yoga and essay writing competition under the supervision of College Principal, Prof Dr Vandana Gupta.
The Day was also celebrated by NSS unit of GDC Ukhral in collaboration with Indian Science Congress Association, Jammu Chapter held series of activities such as essay writing competition, seminar and Yoga session on the theme “Health and Physical Fitness of Yoga”.
The International Yoga Day was celebrated in the College Ground of GDC Rajouri in which staff and students along with NCC cadets performed various yogic exercises during the event. The event was coordinated by Tanwir Ahmed, Assistant Physical Director and NIS Yoga expert of the College.
On this occasion, NSS unit and Department of Physical Education and Sports of GDC Marh performed various Yoga Asanas by Ravi Kumar, Physical Training Instructor. He also explained the benefits of each asana before the participants.
NSS unit of Dogra College of Education conducted a yoga session by performing various Yoga Asanas such as ‘Surya Namaskar’, ‘Kapal Bharti’, Tadasana, ‘Trikonasana’ and Shavasana’ by Rishab Bakshi, Lecturer of Physical Education. He also threw light on the importance of various Yoga Asanas in our daily life.
An essay writing competition was held on the occasion by the Cultural Cell of GDC Dudu Basantgarh wherein nearly 12 students participated in the writing competition and performed various yogic exercises under the supervision of convener of the Cell, Prof Rahul Sharma.
The Day was also celebrated by GDC Kathua in which NSS volunteers, NCC cadets and sportspersons of the College participated with full enthusiasm under the guidance of College Principal, Prof Sumanesh Jasrotia. The event was coordinated by NSS programme officer Prof Manmohan Singh, Prof Neha Bandral and Dr Suresh Sharma.
GDC Ramnagar conducted a special Yoga session for students which started with inaugural speech of College Principal Dr Udhey Bhanu, who highlighted the importance of the Day and encouraged the students to include Yoga in their daily routine.
The Day was celebrated by GDC Bani on the theme “Yoga for Humanity” wherein College staff, student and NCC volunteers participated and performed various yogic exercises under the supervision of College Principal, Dr Vishal Sharma.
GDC Khour celebrated the Day by spreading awareness regarding the benefits of Yoga in day to day life and also performed different Yogic Asanas by the College staff and students.
The month-long Yoga activities were concluded with celebration of International Yoga Day at Yoga Hall of Government Ayurvedic College Akhnoor wherein students, faculty, non teaching staff and hospital staff performed in the yoga session. The event was conducted under the guidance of College Principal, Prof Shashi Sudan.
On this occasion, GDC Katra celebrated the Day by performing yogic exercises under the guidance of College Principal, Dr CK Khajuria. The resource persons also explained the benefits of Yoga in day to day life.
GDC Batote observed the Day by holding various yogic exercises as well as poster making competition wherein students and faculty participated enthusiastically under the supervision of College Principal, Prof Rajesh Kumar Gupta.
NSS/RCC volunteers and NCC cadets of the GDC for Women organized various activities as part of Yoga Day celebration. The programme was organized by Health and Medical Education Department’s Directorate of Ayush J&K Unit in collaboration with District Administration wherein Deputy Commissioner Rahul Pandey encouraged the participants to adopt Yoga in their life.
Sports Committee of the GDC Kilhotran celebrated the Day under the chairmanship of Prof Chanchal Singh, HoD Education wherein Army Major 4 RR, Priyank Singh was the chief guest. The Yoga expert Rahul Manhas explained the importance of yoga during the event.
With the aim to educate students about the benefits of Yoga, IIM Bodh Gaya celebrated the International Yoga Day enthusiastically, wherein student of disciplines and faculty member participated in yogic activities along with Dr Vinita S Sahay, Director, IIM Bodh Gaya.
The Day was also celebrated at Kawa College of Education wherein students, faculty and staff participated in various yogic activities at its campus Patoli Gurha Brahmana Jammu. Puran Chand Sharma, a professional Yoga practioner and preacher motivated students for adoption of Yoga in their daily life.
The NSS unit of Government College of Engineering and Technology Jammu in collaboration with Co-Curricular Activity Cell organized an online lecture on the theme “Yoga for Humanity” to in order to commemorate the Day under the patronage of College Principal Prof (Dr) Sameru Sharma.
The NSS unit and Sports Department of Government Polytechnic Jammu organized a Yoga workshop under the guidance of College Principal, Ritu Jamwal. Manik Slathia (DYS Yog) was the resource person of the event.
Rajiv Gandhi College of Nursing celebrated the Day with the enthusiastic participation of students, faculty and staff at its campus Chak Bhalwal Jammu. The event started with Surya Namaskar, followed by various Yoga Aasans and Pranamyaam performed under the supervision of Yoga experts.
Celebrating the Day, NSS unit and IQAC Cell of GDC Chenani organized one day virtual intra-college poster making and slogan writing competition on Yoga under the theme ‘Yoga for Welfare of Humanity’ wherein students exhibited their talent.
Jammu Institute of Ayurvedic and Research celebrated the Day at its auditorium wherein chairperson Suman Sharma, managing directors Ritesh Sharma, Ravish Sharma, vice principal Dr Nitin Mahajan and principals of Trikuta Group of Colleges Dr Navinder Pal Singh participated. In the week-long event various competitions were held in the College premises like poster competition, Yoga pose competition, Suryanamaskar competition, Yoga quiz and Rangoli competition.
The Day was also celebrated by Sports Authority of India Centre Jammu in which about 80 athletes along the staff and coaches performed yogic activities under the supervision of Deputy Director STC Jammu In-charge, Nadeem Ahmad Dar.
HKM GDC Bandipora observed the Day with an aim to raise awareness about the importance of Yoga in the day to day life, wherein NSS volunteers and students performed various yogic activities under the guidance of College Principal, Dr Mohd Amin.
Army Public School (APS) Damana celebrated 8th International Day of Yoga at its play ground. The event graced by Pushpinder Kaur, Principal APS Damana; Shallu Kapoor, Vice Principal and others, saw active participation of NCC Cadets (girls), students of senior wing and their parents.
International Yoga Day was celebrated across Doda district with zest and zeal. The main event was held at Community Hall Doda. More than 300 persons including DDC Doda Vikas Sharma participated in the Yoga Exercises/session. In Bhaderwah, the Yoga session was held at Halipad 4RR Sarna, Bhaderwah. In Subdivision Thathri, the event was at Boys High School Thathri, in Gandoh at Halipad and in Assar at Higher Secondary School Assar.
APS Kaluchak celebrated the Day and the NCC cadets hailing from SW, JW and JD of the school fervently participated in programme organized on the occasion. A total of 125 cadets actively practiced myriad Yogic Asanas and meditated to achieve inner peace and bliss.
KV Bantalab celebrated Yoga Day wherein about 200 enthusiastic students from different KVs (Sunjuwan, Miran Sahib, KV-1 Gandhinagar, Nagrota, Damana, Bantalab and KV-2 participated in Yoga session. The celebrations were started with lighting of ceremonial lamp followed by Saraswati Vandana by the students.
The 8th International Yoga Day was celebrated by the students and staff of DBN Amarvilla under the theme ‘Yoga for Humanity’. NCC cadets along with the staff and students came together to spread a message to the society to inculcate healthy life habits to make themselves physically and mentally fit.
Elite Public High School celebrated Yoga Day and the students performed different Asanas to stay fit.
Jammu Sanskriti School celebrated the Day and organized myriad activities so as to enhance and imbibe amongst the students as well as the community the significance of the Day. All the segments of the School duly participated in activities like seminars on this year’s theme ‘Yoga for Humanity’.
Rich Harvest School celebrated Yoga Day with enthusiasm and gaiety. To highlight the benefits of Yoga, students participated in essay writing, paragraph writing, poster making and slogan writing competitions.
International Yoga Day was celebrated at S D Kanya Vidhyala Jullaka Mohalla where a student Rajat Sharma displayed his Yogic skills by performing different Aasans.
Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Jaganoo, Udhampur organized a workshop on International Yoga Day in which 100 persons participated.
GHSS Chiralla celebrated Yoga Day with great enthusiasm under the guidance of Bachan Singh Kotwal, acting Principal of the School. Yoga Aasans were practiced by the students and staff members under the supervision of Shahnaz Akhter, Physical Education Lecturer.
BJP District Srinagar under the leadership of Ashok Bhat celebrated International Yoga Day where Ashok Koul, BJP J&K general secretary (Organization) was chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, Koul talked about the importance of Yoga.
J&K BJP led by its senior leaders organized various programmes on International Yoga Day across Jammu as well as in Kashmir. Party president Ravinder Raina along with other senior leaders participated in a Yoga demonstration session at AIIMS Samba.
Rekha Mahajan, secretary BJP J&K organized a programme on the occasion of ‘International Yoga Day’ at Zanana Park, Jammu where a large number of women participated. BJP leader and Deputy Mayor JMC, Purnima Sharma organized a Yoga session at Mubarak Mandi complex. BJP State general secretary, Vibodh Gupta and Ex-MLA Rajeev Sharma participated in International Yoga Day and performed Yoga Aasans.
The 8th International Yoga Day was celebrated at Jammu Airport by AAI in collaboration with Airports Authority of India Women Welfare Association Jammu unit. A Yoga session was conducted under the guidance of Dr Konika Bhagat, Medical Officer AYUSH. On this occasion Airport Director, S K Garg encouraged the staff members to practice Yoga in their daily routine to remain fit.
International Yoga Day was celebrated at Shakar Chiktan, Shargole, Drass, Zanskar and Taisuru in Kargil district. The main program was held in the school ground of Higher Secondary School Chiktan where Sub Divisional Magistrate Mohd Sharif presided over the function. Similar functions were organized at Higher Secondary School ground Shargole, SDH Drass, Government Higher Secondary School Padum Zanskar and at Damsna Taisuru.
The Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at all the sub-divisional headquarters of Leh district, such as Nubra, Khaltse, Nyoma, Likir, Kharu and Durbuk. At Nubra sub-division the celebration was headed by Deputy Chairman, LAHDC Leh, Tsering Angchuk and at Khaltse sub-division, Councillor Khaltse Lobzang Sherab headed the yoga celebration at GDC Khaltse. Various Asanas were performed during events.
International Yoga Day was celebrated by FICCI FLO Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh (JKL) at its adopted park in Green Belt and the Yoga session was conducted by Dr Malvi Gupta, Yoga Practitioner from Swaraj Yoga Institute. Mayor JMC, Chander Mohan Gupta, JMC Commissioner, Rahul Yadav, Sujiv Jain and others participated in the programme. The Mayor and Commissioner JMC were felicitated by FICCI FLO JKL Chairperson, Kunwarani Ritu Singh and her team with a certificate and holy Tulsi plant. The session was moderated by FICCI FLO’s Vice Chairperson, Esther William, who spoke eloquently on the subject of Yoga.
Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi under the aegis of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies of Jammu (SKUAST-J) celebrated 8th International Yoga Day. Scientist and Head of KVK Reasi sensitized the participants about the amazing and natural benefits of yoga. A similar event was organized at KVK Samba under the leadership of Professor J P Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu. More than 74 participants participated in the Yoga session.
International Yoga Day was celebrated with great fervor and enthusiasm across J&K by the Department of Youth Services and Sports in all the sports zones of the UT. The Yoga Instructors initially briefed the participants about the essence of Yogic exercises and thereafter held a 45 minute practice session with demonstration of different Yoga Asanas.
The Art of Living (AOL) organized a slew of events across J&K to celebrate International Yoga Day. The J&K Chapter of AOL demonstrated Yoga Protocol with full enthusiasm. A workshop for inmates at District Jail Udhampur was held where prison rehabilitation programme also started for inmates for their well being.
The 8th International Yoga Divas was celebrated at CVPPPL Corporate office, Jammu and all its projects at Kishtwar following COVID-19 guidelines. Employees and senior officers of CVPPPL Corporate Office Jammu performed Yoga Aasanas and Pranayaam under the supervision of Yoga Trainers from Swaraj Yoga Institute & Wellness Retreats Trikuta Nagar, Jammu. The day was also celebrated at Pakal Dul, Kiru and Kwar HE Projects of CVPPPL at Kishtwar following COVID-19 protocol.
Jammu Development Authority (JDA) organized an interactive awareness session on Yoga to celebrate 8th International Yoga Day. S K Jain, State Yoga Commissioner, India Yoga Association, Anju Bansal, Yog Shikshika Patanjali Yog Peeth, Yash Pal and others were resource persons who shared the Yoga techniques and their benefits with JDA employees. Vice Chairman JDA Pankaj Magotra and other officers of JDA were also present on the event.
Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) celebrated the Day in collaboration with Jammu development Authority and HDFC Bank at JDA Park near Bawe Wali Mata Mandir wherein officials of JMC emphasized to make the event a plastic free by avoiding refreshments or any other material made up of plastic. The programme started with a message from JMC Mayor Chander Mohan Gupta.
EPFO Regional Office Jammu observed the Day on the theme “Yoga for Humanity” in which Yoga Instructor, Vijay Choithani guided the participants to understand basics of different Asanas and emphasised on the beneficial aspects of Yoga for a person’s overall wellbeing in terms physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing.
On the occasion of International Yoga Day, Police Hospital Jammu organized the Yoga session under the supervision of Medical Superintendent Dr Meenakshi Kotwal in District Police Lines, Gandhi Nagar Jammu. All the doctors, paramedical and more than 800 officers and Jawans of Police department participated in the Yoga Camp, during which participants were asked to avail the benefits of facilities available at the Police Hospital Jammu for themselves and also for their dependents.
International Yoga Day was celebrated at a multidimensional level by SnS -The Fitness Studio. Tarang 2.0 was organized by Unicorn Media & Events for everyone where Yoga was highlighted by 5 different Yoga experts Shelly Kaur, Agriya Bhatia, Zoha Barkat, Sahil Gupta and Ashok K Gupta from Jammu. Dr Sushil Sharma, JMC Commissioner Rahul Yadav and many other prominent persons graced the event.
The local Rashtriya Rifle Batalion, posted in Mendhar town, celebrated International Yoga Day by getting students to do yoga at the Government Degree College, Mendhar during which the NCC unit, NSS unit and Army together participated in the program.
Department of Posts, J&K Postal Circle released a Special Cover on the occasion of 8th International Day of Yoga at the Office of Chief Postmaster General, Jammu. Based on the theme of this year’s Yoga Day celebrations ‘Yoga for Humanity’ the Special Cover was released by DV Mahesh, Chief Postmaster General J&K Circle. Before the release of the Special Cover, a Yoga session was also organized.
International Day of Yoga was celebrated by Archeological Survey of India (ASI) at various monuments in J&K. Union MoS Health and Family Welfare, Dr Bharti Pravin Pawar was chief guest at a function at ancient temple of Martand, Ranbelpur in Anantang while at Akhnoor Fort, SDM Akhnoor, Akhil Sadotra was chief guest. Chairman Municipal Committee along with others and students from International Delhi Public School Akhnoor participated in Yoga Day. At Pari Mahal, Srinagar, Rashtriya Rifles collaborated to celebrate International Yoga Day while at Shankaracharya Temple, Srinagar, ASI Srinagar Circle collaborated with CRPF to celebrate the Day.

The 76 Battalion of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) celebrated the Day at Battalion Head Quarter, Channi Himmat Jammu. The Yoga Day session was inaugurated by T H Khan, Commandant-76 Battalion CRPF. Apart from Battalion Headquarter, the Yoga Day was celebrated across all CRPF deployments at Jammu and Doda districts.

Maternity Hospital Gandhi Nagar, (Jammu) celebrated International Yoga Day wherein the staff members and students were demonstrated special Yoga techniques especially for post-COVID recovery-both physical and mental. The programme was organized under the supervision of Dr Arun Sharma, Medical Superintendent of the Hospital.
Bharatiya Yog Sanasthan, Jammu celebrated Yoga Day throughout the Jammu region. The main celebration was held at Green Belt Park, Gandhi Nagar Jammu wherein a large number of regular Yog Sadhaks of the Sanasthan and general public participated. In connection with International Yoga Day, a programme was organized near the LoC in which more than 200 youths from Behroti, Sohala, Panjni, Darati and other villages participated. The programme was held under the supervision of Block Medical Officer Mendhar, Dr Parvaiz Ahmed Khan.

Batwal Youth Development Committee Jammu celebrated International Day of Yoga and a Yoga camp was organized by Captain Hans Raj Nandan at Gazipur in R S Pura in which a large number of locals actively participated.
Nat Manch celebrated 8th International Yoga Day by organizing a function in which founder and president of Nat Manch, Tarun Sharma was the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion Tarun Sharma said that Yoga is not merely a physical exercise but works on all aspects of a person.
The Day was also celebrated by National Development Organization at Rajouri. Locals including senior citizens participated in the celebration and performed various Yoga Asanas.
State Bank of India celebrated Yoga Day at its local Head Office, Sector – 17 Chandigarh. Anukool Bhatnagar, Chief General Manager, SBI Chandigarh Circle started the event by addressing the participants. The 45-minute Yoga Protocol event at 7 AM to 7:45 AM was synchronized with nationwide event.
Shri Pratap College Srinagar observed the International Day in its campus wherein College Principal, Prof (Dr) Khurshid Ahmad Khan, faculty members and students actively performed various Yoga asanas. The Principal urged all the participants to make Yoga an integral part of life.
Celebrating the Day, Natrang introduced the magnificent art of Yoga amongst children during the Natrang Children Theatre Camp-2022. The demonstration was conducted by the children Devangi Sharma and Gaurangi Sharma. Besides, the Natrang Director Balwant Thakur through live streaming from Mauritius underlined the importance of yoga in theatre.
Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan in coordination with Sangam Tru Art Production celebrated the Day by organising a musical concert at Rehearsal hall, Durga Bhawan Janipur.
The celebration was also observed by Health Sweet Heart 50 plus holding a ‘Yoga Shivir’ at Gurha Brahmana, Bantalab wherein all the group members participated.
The 15th Battalion of ITBP Pranu Camp celebrated the Day by organising various yogic activities wherein jawans and their family members as well as Commanding Officer of unit, Ashish Kumar performed Asanas.
The celebration was also organized by J&K Ex-services League Udhampur at Pandav Mandir Complex and it organized various activities during the event.
NGO Shakti Punj in collaboration with Jai Maa Kali Prachin Mandir Jasmergarh Fort Committee Hirangar organized three-day ‘Shivir’ to celebrate the International Yoga Day.
The 8th edition of Day on the theme ‘Yoga for Humanity’ was celebrated at Government Hospital Sarwal, wherein Dr Jatinder Gupta, retired Deputy Director AYUSH briefed about the yogic exercise on the health of individuals.
The Day was also observed at Vivekananda Bhavan Hall SRMA Nagdandi wherein the Yoga instructor guided the school children about the benefits of the yogic exercises.
