International Theatre Workshop touches new horizons

JAMMU, Aug 22: International Theatre Workshop being organised by Natrang in association with Dara Shikoh Centre is touching new horizons of creativity and innovation and today reached the environs of historic Amar Mahal of Jammu.
Young theatre practitioners of Jammu have got a unique opportunity of and world exposure of exploring new dynamics of theatre. This International Theatre Workshop brings a breeze of fresh activities in this hot and mundane weather. Natrang is in its fourth day of the International Theatre Workshop and with each passing day has been uncovering a new methodology and theatre activity.
This week long workshop is being conducted by a theatre scholar and artist, Fabian Hartwell who has come from London and is being coordinated by Aarushi Thakur Rana. Fabian worked with the young artists from Natrang in the first two days of the workshop where they explored various new and unique theatre games, improvisations and activities. On the third day of the workshop, Fabian Hartwell worked with the children repertory group of Natrang.
Speaking on this occasion, Natrang’s Director, Padmashree Balwant Thakur stated that the main objective of this international workshop was to give exposure to the people of Jammu about the new innovations and experiments in theatre and to make them aware about what is happening in the other parts of the world with respect to contemporary theatre. This workshop is being conducted in collaboration with the Dara Shikoh Centre for the Arts, run by Dr Jyotsana Singh. This foundation greatly promotes a global exchange of ideas in Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh.
The participants selected through an interview process for this workshop include Sumeet Sharma, Aarushi Thakur Rana, Rahul Singh, Mahikshit Singh, Vaishali Sharma, Vrinda Sharma, Gauri Thakur, Ashish Parihar, Sandeep Kumar, Ashley Mehta, Shivam Sharma, Shivam Singh, Goutam Sharma, Aafaque Khan, Priyanka Pandita, Saadhvi Verma, Mohd. Mohsin Raza, Akash Bhat, Brigu Sharma, Meenakshi Bhagat, Abhi Bargotra, Vipan Singh, Aishwarya Sathe, Raheel Sharma, Ashwani Sharma and Mohit Kaul.
