Interlocutors’ report on State most exhaustive exercise: Omar

SRINAGAR, Aug 29:  Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said the report of the Centre’s interlocutors is “one of the most exhaustive” exercise on State in the last two decades as it has been formulated after consultation with different groups across the State.
“Report of such a nature will necessarily evoke divergent views and reactions among the cross section of people who may argue differently, but an effort needs to be made so that the differences could be narrowed down and the majority of the people are unified on the broader contours of the political resolution,” Omar said in a statement.
After a meeting with former interlocutors Dileep Padgaonkar and Radha Kumar here, Omar said the report should form the basis to initiate a dialogue between the Centre and the State and pave the path of meeting the aspirations of the people of the state on the basis of a boarder consensus.
Padgaonkar and Kumar are currently on a tour of Srinagar and Jammu, commissioned by Delhi Policy Group, to receive feedback on their report from various cross sections of the society. (AGENCIES)
