Inter-state narco smuggler held with intoxicant capsules, banned syrup bottles

JAMMU, Aug 12: Trikuta Nagar police arrested inter-state narcotic smuggler alongwith large quantity of intoxicant capsules and banned syrup bottles near Railway Station Jammu.
As per police sources, on specific information about smuggling of intoxicant capsules and banned syrup bottles from Punjab to Jammu through train, police team from Trikuta Nagar police station laid a naka near out gate at Railway Station Jammu.
Police team kept strict vigil over the people coming out from the Railway Station so that the accused could not manage to escape.
Getting suspicious over the movement of one person carrying cartons, police team asked him to stop.
On seeing police team, the person tried to escape, but was nabbed after a hot chase by the active cops of Trikuta Nagar police station.
During checking of the cartons, police team recovered 1728 intoxicant capsules and 148 bottles of banned syrup worth around Rs 40,000 and arrested the accused on the spot.
The narcotic smuggler has been identified as Rajeev Mahajan, son of Balbeer Kumar Mahajan, a resident of Rehari, Sarwal.
The accused had brought the consignment of intoxicant capsules and banned syrup bottles from Punjab to distribute it among the youth to make them drug addicts, but due to the alertness of Trikuta Nagar police, the nefarious designs of the accused were thwarted.
A case under FIR Number 188/15 under Section 8/21/22 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the narcotic smuggler at police station Trikuta Nagar and investigation started to apprehend other persons involved in this drug trade with the accused.
Police team led by SHO Trikuta Nagar police station DySP (Probation) Mansha Beig made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO East Mohammad Rafiq Manhas, SP City South Udhay Bhaskar Billa and Incharge SSP Jammu Rajiv Pandey.
