JAMMU, Oct 14: Police under ‘Operation Sanjeevani’ busted an inter-state drug racket and arrested 5 smugglers with 5 kilograms heroin here today.
As per police spokesman, a police party observed two vehicles parked in suspicious condition on BC Road.
During questioning and observation it has been found that two groups of people from different parts of the country were indulged in some dealing of contraband items.
Further questioning and search conducted instantly and 5 kg heroin was recovered, which was concealed in 5 packets from a vehicle. Cash amount Rs. 1.5 lakh was also seized from the culprits. The two arrested accused were from Punjab and three from Kupwara.
A case under FIR Number 54/16 under Section 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at police station Bus-Stand and investigation started.
The whole operation was supervised by Vivek Shekhar, SDPO City North and Dr Vinod Kumar, SP City.
