Inter-state drug peddlers held with 40 kg bhukki

JAMMU, Oct 1: Police arrested three inter-state drug peddlers along with 40 kilograms of poppy straw (bhukki) from Manda area, falling under the jurisdiction of Pacca Danga police station.
As per police sources, on specific information, police team from Pacca Danga police station laid a naka at Manda and intercepted a Tempor Traveller bearing registration number JK02B-9939 for checking.
During checking, police recovered 40 kilograms of poppy straw (bhukki) from the possession of three persons, who have been identified as Mithu Ram, Jaswinder and Benia Raja, all residents of Punjab. The driver of the vehicle was also detained by the police for questioning.
They had brought the consignment of narcotics from Srinagar and were smuggling the same to Punjab.
A case under FIR Number 172/15 under Section 8/15 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against them at Pacca Danga police station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Pacca Danga police station Inspector Kuldeep Khajuria made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO City Perbeet Singh Parihar, SP City Shiv Kumar Singh Chouhan and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
