UDHAMPUR, Oct 27: District Police Udhampur has arrested two inter-state drug peddlers and seized 15 kg poppy straw, which was being smuggled from Kashmir to Jammu by the accused in a load carrier.
The smuggled consignment was seized during a naka on the National Highway near Jakheni last night when Police intercepted a Load Carrier bearing registration number PB11BF-3224.
The poppy straw was concealed inside specially fabricated cavities in the vehicle. Driver of the vehicle, namely Narinder Singh of Laloura Patiala Punjab and his associated Roldhu Singh of Laloura Patiala Punjab were arrested on the spot.
The success was achieved by the Police party, led by Gourav Mahajan, Dy SP Hqrs. Udhampur and Inspt Mahesh Sharma, SHO Udhampur, under the overall supervision of SSP Udhampur, Mohd Suleman Choudhary.
In this connection, a case under NDPS Act has been registered in Police Station Udhampur against the accused persons.
