UDHAMPUR, Nov 1: In connection with the celebration of Vigilance Awareness Week, NSS Units of Govt. Degree College Udhampur organized Inter-Collegiate Symposium & Poster Making Competition on the topic “Role of Youth in Making India a Corruption Free Nation” at GDC Udhampur today.
District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary was the chief guest on the occasion.
While  interacting with the students, DDC advised them to remain honest and aware the masses about the laws to fight against corruption. He said that youth should play an important role to eradicate corruption from the society and help to promote transparency and good governance
The speakers drawn from different Colleges expressed their views and were of the opinion that corruption must be eradicated for the development of the Nation.In the Symposium, Sapna Devi (GDC Ramnagar), Shavina Akhtar (GDC Udhampur) & Akhtar Hussain Azad were adjudged 1st , 2nd & 3rd  respectively.
In the Poster Making Competition the students depicted various types of Corruptions and remedies to check it. Palak Raina and Neha Mahajan (GDC Udhampur), Vishali Rajput (GDC Udhampur) and Bhawna Rani of Bhartiya College of Education, Udhampur bagged 1st, 2nd & 3rd positions respectively in the poster making competition.
The Principal of the College Prof. S.S Bhalwal also addressed the gathering. Dr. Vipin Verma, Prof. Rakesh Gupta and Dr. Pankaj Sharma were the adjudicators.
At the end of the symposium the students and staff took Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Pledge to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel ji.
Among others,  Dr. Udhey Bhanu, Prof Suresh Kumar Dogra, NSS Programme Officers, Prof. Sanjay Kumar, Dr. Ajay Sharma, Prof. Romesh Chander Sharma , Prof. Samosh Kumar, Prof. Suresh Kumar Dogra and students in large number were  present on the occasion.
