KAKRYAL, Mar 23: The 2-day Inter-College Nursing Fest- “Tarang-2018”, organised by the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi College of Nursing (SMVDCoN), Kakryal, commenced here today.
Maj Gen. Sunita Kapoor (Retd.), former Additional Director General, Military Nursing Services, who was the chief guest on the occasion, inaugurated the event at the Auditorium of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University by unfolding the theme of the Nursing Fest.
Speaking on the occasion, she observed that nursing is a noble profession, adding that hands on skills and professional knowledge of nurses help the patients in a big way. She lauded the SMVDCoN for organising “Tarang 2018” which has brought together young nursing professionals from various Nursing Colleges of the State and will facilitate sharing of experiential knowledge.

Maj Gen S K Sharma (Retd.), Member Shrine Board and Chairman of the Governing Body of the SMVDCoN, in his keynote address, spoke about the facilities made available for the students in this College. He said that the programmes like “Tarang-2018” besides promoting the spirit of camaraderie also go a long way in overall personality development of the students.
Dr Shailla Cannie, Principal of the College, in her welcome address, spoke about the various competitive events being organised during the Nursing Fest which include debate, quiz, poster making, cultural activities and athletics.
Among those present at the inaugural function of the Inter-College Nursing Fest, were Dr M K Kumar, Additional CEO of the Shrine Board; Dr Arvind Karwani and Amit Vermani, Dy CEOs; Dr (Brig) M M Harjai, Administrator of SMVDCoN; Director Medical Services of the Shrine Board; Medical Superintendent of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Superspeciality Hospital, Kakryal besides faculty and students of the SMVDCoN and other participating colleges.
