KISHTWAR, Sept 25: Expressing grave concern over delay in widening of road in Kishtwar town from Malipath to Kuleed Chowk, the members of Kishtwar civil society have demanded that the work taken up in hand over five years back is going on snails pace.
Addressing the meeting of members of civil society here, today one of its members and senior Congress leader, Shamsher Singh Bhandari said that the people are facing many hardships due to the delay in widening of the road in the town the project which was taken in hand over five years back as there is lot of congestion in the bazaar.
Mr Bhandari also demanded immediate widening of Batote –Kishtwar Highway and handing over the same to a reputed constructing company for construction.
He said the Highway is in dilapidated condition due to which many precious lives have been lost on it after frequent road mishaps. He said despite the assurance of the Government to construct an alternative Highway nothing has been done in this regard till date and the people are facing hardships.
