JAMMU, Jan 22: To ensure smooth flow of vehicular traffic on National Highway, Jammu city roads and its adjoining areas, the Chairman, Legislative Council, Amrit Malhotra convened a meeting of officers in his office chamber here today.
The Chairman asked the concerned for deputing more traffic personnel to curb traffic violations including jumping of traffic signals. He also called for installing CCTV at all important junctions to track down violators.
Referring to other violations, he stressed the need for checking wrong side driving and haphazard parking of vehicles at showrooms along Bypass National highway, adding that the practice has been found as main cause of accidents in the areas of Narwal and Channi Himmat. He said parking on service- lanes on bypass stretch of National Highway cause traffic jams by chocking the side lanes, which is required to be dealt strictly.
The Chairman directed for installing more traffic signal lights along bypass to ensure smooth flow of traffic on the busy stretches.
The meeting threadbare discussed various other measures imperative for improving traffic management system on the city roads.
Among others, Superintendent of Police Traffic, Pawan Parihar, Additional Secretary, Mohammad Maqbool and other senior officers of Council Secretariat attended the meeting.
