JAMMU, Oct 25: A Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police (JKAP) Inspector died after he suffered gunshot injuries here at Channi Himmat area today, police said.
They said Inspector Gurdeep Singh (48) son of Mohinder Singh of Haveli, Poonch, at present Bathindi, Jammu, suffered a bullet injury in his head while he was on duty at the Administrative Block of 7th Battalion of the JKAP at Channi Himmat, Jammu, around 3.45 pm.
He was immediately taken to Government Medical College Jammu, where he succumbed to his injuries around 5:16 pm, said police.
Quoting preliminary investigations, a police officer said, “it appears that the police officer has shot himself dead with his own weapon but to completely ascertain the facts, we’ve started investigation into the matter.”
