Srinagar, July 3: The inquiry committee formed by the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Anantnag today submitted its report in case of the alleged death of a lady due to ‘negligence’ at Mother and Child Hospital (M&CH) Anantnag last week.
The official said that they have recommended stern action against those who have been found guilty and action will be taken soon in the case which had sparked protests in the area.
The inquiry jointly conducted by the Principal Medical College (GMC), Anantnag and the CMO, Anantnag after a week’s time has submitted its report to the Director Health Services, Kashmir who is set to take the action.
“I have sent the report today to the Director; it is now up to her what she will do, the Director can take the action from there, or she can forward it to the Commissioner, let’s see what happens,” said CMO Anantnag Dr Mukhtar Ahmad.
Two Associate Professors, an Assistant Professor and the Deputy CMO were the part of the inquiry committee that has written the report in the case.
Dr Mukhtar assured that the action will be taken into the matter, adding “I cannot share the contents of the report as of now, but the report has been sent, proper action will be taken.”
Pertinently, a 25-year old pregnant lady had died at M&CH at South Kashmir’s Anantnag district last week due to alleged ‘negligence’ by the doctors on duty.
The family of the deceased had alleged that a patient, Shobi Jan wife of Muhammad Hussain Bhat of Sarnal Anantnag-was admitted in the hospital last Tuesday. They had alleged that not even a single doctor attended to the patient, leading to her death.
The inquiries were ordered at four different levels: M&CH Anantnag, CMO, Directorate and also Government Medical College (GMC), Anantnag for a thorough probe into the matter, however, the committees were clubbed and a single report detailing the incident and fixing the responsibilities has been sent for the action by the authorities.
