Inner Wheel Club, Rotary Elite adopt 31 Shaheed families

JAMMU, Aug 20: Continuing with the earlier trend of recognizing the Supreme sacrifice made by Shaheed Parivars towards the nation, citizens of Jammu have taken an initiative to adopt Veer Naris/ families of battle causalities. This initiative has been taken by ladies from Inner Wheel Club of Jammu and Rotary Club Elite (Jammu).
While visiting families of martyrs, it was observed by Director Rajya Sainik Board, Brig Harcharan Singh, that interaction between families of martyrs and the citizens is lacking. Certain veterans suggested, citizens should adopt Shaheed Parivars to increase the interaction. After taking directions from  Governor, N N Vohra a programme was started wherein three NGOs and 81 prominent citizens came forward to adopt Shaheed Parivars. These citizens were awarded Appreciation Certificate by  Governor and also invited to Governor House on the evening of Republic Day for “At Home” tea.
During Veer Naris Adoption Ceremony held in Army Auditorium at Samba, it was a emotional movement for the lady members of Inner Wheel Club Jammu  president, Mrs Lalita Gupta and Rotary Elite Club Jammu, president Mrs Gurvinder Kour who adopted 25 and 7 “Shaheed Parivars” respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, Director Rajya Sainik Board complimented the citizens for taking such initiative and showing respect and concern for these families, who have scarified their sons for the nation. Chief Guest, Brig (retd) Anil Gupta appreciated efforts and initiatives of the ladies of these two clubs who have proved that women are in lead role in all spheres of life. Brig Anil Gupta assured all help from the Veterans for the families of battle casualities. Brig Anil Gupta, appreciated the unique initiatives taken by Sainik Welfare Board. He further informed that this idea was initially discussed by him and the success is a matter of pride and satisfaction. Presidents of both clubs, Mrs Lalita Gupta and Mrs Gurvinder Kour addressed the gathering with a touch of sentiment and patriotism. The vote of thanks was given by Mrs Paramjit Kour, coordinator of the event. ZSWO Kathua/Samba, Capt (IN) Vinod Khajura was Master of Ceremony who organized adoption of 32 martyr families.
Brig Harcharan Singh,VSM thanked the Senior Officers of Samba garrison and their families for organizing the event and participating in the event with a sense of pride. He also thanked the media for giving prominence to the event which would bring the Army, Veer Naris and citizens closer and will motivate youth to join Armed Forces and render selfless service to the Nation.
