Infosys opens new 250-seater BPO in Puerto Rico

NEW DELHI, Mar 10:  Country’s second largest software services firm Infosys today said its BPO arm has set up a 250-seater centre at Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, aimed at serving the aviation sector.
The 12,000-square feet centre, developed in collaboration with the Commonwealth administration and state-owned PRIDCO, will initially deliver order-to-cash business processes for clients in the aviation sector, Infosys said in a statement.
The centre in Aguadilla, which is an aviation hub, will provide services in English and Spanish and host about 250 employees serving worldwide clients, it added.
“The availability of a highly skilled and talented workforce, coupled with positive business environment fostered by Puerto Rican government, makes this a favourable destination for Infosys BPO,” Infosys BPO CEO and Managing Director Anup Uppadhayay said.
Infosys envisions it as a centre of excellence for aviation and aerospace industry, he added.
The company said it would further expand its footprint in the region to service clients in the government sector and the healthcare industry.
It had announced plans to set up the centre in July last year.
“The progress of this project has been outstanding. We expect that this positive experience will enable additional business opportunities between Puerto Rico and Infosys BPO along with its clients,” PRIDCO Executive Director Antonio Medina Comas said.
Set up in April, 2002, Infosys BPO has operations in over a dozen countries including Poland, the Czech Republic, Ireland and Brazil and employs  30,971 people as on December, 2014. (PTI)
