*Man arrested for pelting stones, injuring cops

JAMMU, Apr 10: Four persons including an infamous lady drug peddler were arrested along with contraband. However, a man was also arrested for pelting stones and injuring cops.
As per police sources, on reliable information about the presence of some drug sellers near Lower Maitra children park, a team from Police Station Ramban led by SHO Inspector Pardeep Sharma raided the area.
On noticing the police party, a lady started running away from police. However, a lady police party led by PSI Mamta Kumari and other lady constable got hold off her and during her personal search approximately 300 grams cannabis was recovered from her possession. The lady identified as Sakina Begum, wife of late Abdul Majid Sheikh of Lower Maitra was arrested. Click here to watch video
The said lady was into the drugs business since long and many locals had complaint against presence of drug addicts in the area.
A case under FIR Number 56/2021 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Ramban and investigation started.
Meanwhile, during the same time, another reliable input was received about the presence of some drug addicts and dealers in the Lower Maitra area.
Acting swiftly on this information, a police party led by SHO Police Station Ramban Inspector Pardeep Sharma went to Shiekh Mohalla. On seeing police party, a heavy stone pelting started in the Shiekh Mohalla on police party, in which SPO Rahul Singh was severely injured, while PSI Vinod Saini, PSI Mamta Kumari and SgCt Parshotam also sustained injuries.
Police party led by SHO Ramban and DySP Headquarters successfully apprehended one stone pelter, who was identified as Zaffar, son of Mohammad Shafi of Lower Maitra in the line of action while he was pelting stones along with 10 to 15 other unknown persons. Identification of other stone pelters is being ascertained.
A case under FIR Number 57/2021 under Section 307, 332, 336 and 147 IPC was registered at Police Station Ramban and investigation started.
However, a team from Police Station Kishtwar led by SHO Inspector Abid Bukhari under the Supervision of DySP Headquarters Kishtwar Devinder Singh Bandral laid a special naka at Sarkoot crossing and arrested a drug peddler along with 10 packets of intoxicant tablets.
The arrested person was identified as Karanjeet, son of Vijay Kumar, a resident of Begana district Kishtwar.
A case under FIR Number 61/2021 under relevant sections of NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Kishtwar and investigation initiated.
In another incident, a team from Police Station Satwari led by SHO Inspector Nishant Gupta laid a naka near Raipur Satwari and intercepted two persons.
During checking, police team recovered around 2.5 kilograms ganja from the possession of the persons and arrested them.
The arrested persons were identified as Rajindra, son of Khem Raj Sahu and Ishwar Banarsi, son of Jagat Ram, both residents of Chattisgarh.
A case under FIR Number 83/2021 under Section 8/20/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Satwari and investigation started.
