KATRA, Mar 6: An Industrial Academia conclave was conducted by SMVDU on the occasion of NCITME 2017 (National Conference on Innovative Trends in Mechanical Engineering). The conclave saw the participation of various industries from Jammu, namely Kamal Gupta (M/s Shubham Industries), Sandeep Gupta (M/s Kashmir Jam Industries), Milind Gupte (Em-cure Pharmaceuticals), Vinay Sharma (Berger Paints India ltd.), D S Gujral (TV Super Filter Industry).
The session was presided over by Dr Balbir Singh (HoD Department of Mechanical Engg.). He briefed everyone about the conclave.
The academicians present for the discussion were Dr Bhaskar Bhandarkar (Director General IIIE, Mumbai), Prof Ashok Pundir (NITI, Powai), Dr R Arvind Singh (BIT, Tamil Nadu), Dr Suparn Sharma, Dr A Vashishtha and B K Bhatia.
The event started with a presentation on the Department of Mechanical Engineering by Dr Yatheshth Anand. It was followed by the discussion which pondered upon the live projects which can be done with industrial collaboration. The discussion mainly focussed on how the students can be a part of the industrial setup at a very early stage so as to have a better understanding of the industrial setup.
Prof A Pundir also talked about strengthening the surrounding areas and the institution by generating demand of the products that can be locally fabricated. The students from B Tech (Mechanical) and M Tech (M&A) also asked many questions related to their trainings, live projects and placements, to which the representatives responded positively.
Dr Balbir Singh, concluded the conclave with a vote of thanks to all the academicians and industrial representatives. A joint opinion was to have more of such conclaves.
