Sir,
Automation or automatic control is the use of various control systems for operating equipment such as machinery, processes in factories, boilers and heat treating ovens, switching in telephone network, aircraft and other applications with minimum or reduced human intervention. Some processes have been completely automated. The biggest benefit of automation is that it saves labour. Besides it is also used to save energy and materials and to improve quality, accuracy and precision
Today automation is the backbone of the industries. Industries and automation are totally dependent on each other because without automation industries would not be functional anymore. Each and every bit of work done, by a small machine to huge vital machines are managed and controlled through industrial automation. In Jammu & Kashmir automation equipments are available almost in all the Industries but due to lack of skill and knowledge industries are running in worst condition even when a fault occurs no one has capability to find the fault and troubleshoot it. So they hire engineers from outside and pay big amount for a minor problem which results in a loss to company.
There are lot of Industries running in various areas of Jammu and Kashmir. Most of them are small scale industries, these industries play a vital role in production and employment to the various categories of people of the State. These days education is all about having only diploma and degree certificates but not grasping knowledge and practical skills.Today’s education system of our country is more focused on theoretical knowledge and if practicals are there, then there is lack of equipment and tools that are to be used in practicals. It therefore produces engineers who lack skill and confidence. When the students get placed in some companies they don’t know how to tackle these automatic machines because of the lack of technical and practical skills.
Though there are some of the Industrial Automation Training Institutes helping the skill development of the youths of Jammu & Kashmir, there is need to have more special institutes for this purpose in the State.
