SAMBA, Nov 12: A deputation of industrial workers, led by Harbans Choudhary- senior labour leader and vice president Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh, called on Deputy Commissioner Samba as well as the Assistant Labour Commissioner and apprised them about the grievances of workers.
Harbans Choudhary said that the workers perform 10-12 hours duty in factories but denied overtime while minimum wages as per Union Territory rates and mandatory wage slips are also not given to them.
In the absence of wage slips, illegal deductions from wages are being made by concerned officials, he said and urged the officers to take strict action against the employer, particularly labour supplier contractors directing them for mentioning full postal address, ESI, I P Number and PF subscriber number on the wage slips.
“No employment card is being issued to workers at the time of joining duty with the result these workers are laid off by the companies without compensation which is illegal. Regular workers are intentionally deprived from their lively hood, bonus, PF, ESI and other facilities, “ said the delegation.
The Deputy Commissioner gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assured that he would look into the problems put forth by the BMS.
