JAMMU, June 23: Kashmiri Pandits today urged Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) to induct some members of the community in the Shrine Board also.
In a statement issued here, today by Temples and Shrines Prabandhak Committee, Tral Pulwama reiterated its demand of including the members of the community in the Pratham Pujan at holy cave as well as daily Puja during the annual yatra also. The president of the Committee, Ramesh Bhat said that prior to mass exodus of Kashmiri Pandits the community Prohits were involved in Puja at holy cave but after the constitution of Shrine Board the role of community was totally ignored.
Bhat said the issue has been raised by his organiosation as well as other KP bodies with Shrine Board authorities including Lt Governor who is the Chairman of SASB many times demanding that at least two members of the community be incorporated in the Shrine Board. Moreover the start and end of the Yatra should be as per the Shastras viz Amar Katha which says the culmination of yatra should be done at Nawdal Tral as has been a tradition from Puranic period.
He said Amarnath Ji is dear to every KP from the existence of this material world and they know the nitty-gritty of the yatra from religious point of view for centuries together.
He said it is very unfortunate that KPs have been completely excluded from the affairs of yatra which has hurt their sentiments. He said when in Tamil Nadu, Rameshwaram, Tamil hymns can be sung, in Somnath Gujarat, Gujarati hymns can be recited, in Uttrakhand Garwali, Pahadi hymns can be sung why not Kashmiri Bhajans and hymns can be recited in daily Pooja at holy cave of Shri Amarnath Ji despite the fact that Kashmir language has its origin in ancient language of India i. e Sanskrit.
