For providing multi- utility sports facilities to the youth of the concerned area , an indoor stadium in Mirgund town of Pattan in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district involving a cost of Rs.4 crore was sanctioned four years ago , say in 2017 . Games which had to be played to keep the youth engaged in positive and physical developmental pursuits included Basketball, Badminton, Chess, Snooker, Carom and other games. The idea of the Government sent in waves of joy among the sports loving youth. The project , however, could not be completed so far after missing the first timeline ostensibly due to the phases of lockdown on account of corona pandemic but even now the work on it going at a snail’s pace appears to be of little concern to the concerned authorities which has disappointed the interested youth.
The Jammu and Kashmir Projects Corporation Company which is the executing agency of the project was hopeful about the remaining 20 percent of the work getting ”completed soon”, say within four months as with improvement in weather conditions , the work on it would go smoothly. Let us all hope to see this stadium complete in all respects by early August this year.
