JAMMU, Oct 6: Maintaining that Indian forces are capable to deal with any type of situation on borders, Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh today said, that Pakistan has been totally isolated at international level due to the efforts of Narendra Modi Government at Centre.
Talking to reporters at the sidelines of BJP Jammu district Working Committee meeting at Party Headquarters here this morning, the Deputy CM said “our forces are very much active and they are capable of giving befitting reply to enemy and repulse any attack from across”.
Accusing Pakistan of its total involvement in present unrest in Kashmir, he said the neighboring country will never be allowed to succeed in its nefarious designs.
On the problems being faced by the people of border areas as many of them were forced to migrate to safer areas due to unprovoked shelling from across, Dr Singh said the instructions have been given to the administration to provide all basic facilities to these people and make elaborate arrangements for their boarding , lodging etc. He said Prime Minister, Defence Minister and Home Minister are themselves monitoring the border situation and Army and BSF have been given instructions to give befitting reply to Pakistan.
Earlier addressing the District Working Committee, Dr Singh said that BJP has not deviated from its agenda after joining hands with PDP and it has not given up its core issues. “We have been given public mandate for agenda of governance as people of the State wanted to get rid of National Conference and Congress misrule,” he added.
He said many steps were taken for the overall development of the State and a package was sanctioned by the Centre for this purpose. Allaying the fears of the people that the trade and tourism in Jammu has been hit after extension of train to Udhampur and holy town of Katra, Dr Singh said the coalition is committed to make Jammu a tourist hub and a number of projects were taken up in hand for this purpose.
In this regard, he cited the Tawi Beautification Project which is being developed on the pattern of Sabarmati river of Gujarat, Tawi Lake Project, Gondola and sound and light programme at Bagh-e-Bahu and Mubarak Mandi Heritage Project. The main purpose of this is that the pilgrims coming to holy town of Mata Vaishno Devi should visit the Jammu city around and spend some days here too.
Maintaining that Jammu is the land of great leaders and the epicenter of political struggle, he recalled the role of Sher-e-Duggar, Pt Prem Nath Dogra who launched the Praja Parishad movement for total integration of State with rest of India.
Claiming that the BJP has not deviated from its agenda and core issues, he said that both BJP and PDP have honoured the mandate of the people of Kashmir and Jammu and came together for governance.
Making an appeal to the people not to get misled by the false propaganda against BJP, Dr. Singh said that comparison between the decades rules of Congress and that of Atal Behari Vajpayee and present Narendra Modi Government itself speaks as to who has been pro-people, pro-development and concerned for the common masses.
Speaker & Gandhi Nagar MLA Kavinder Gupta spoke on various Centrally Sponsored Schemes, while Jammu East MLA & Chief Whip Rajesh Gupta spoke on Antodaya and Ekatm Manavaad.
MLC Ashok Khajuria spoke on various welfare schemes of booth, Centre and State Governments and also the present situation in the State.
State vice-presidents Yudhvir Sethi and Rajni Sethi, State secretary Anuradha Charak, Mahila Morcha State president Purnima Sharma were among other speakers. District president, Baldev Singh Billawaria, delivered the welcome address and also briefed about programmes undertaken during last three months.
Proceedings were conducted by district general secretaries Vinay Gupta and Sunil Sharma and Purshotam Sharma recited Varg Geet.
The meeting also adopted a resolution on development of Jammu district and  the achievements Centre and State Government.
Similar, Working Committee Meetings of Udhampur district was held at Ramnagar and addressed by State general secretary Pawan Khajuria, MLA R.S Pathania, Senior leader Som Raj Khajuria, district president Rakesh Gupta, local leaders Master Gopal Dass, Adv. Mohan Lal and Puran Chand. Proceedings of this meeting were conducted by Ramneek Sharma.
