This has reference to the article ‘Indian Army ranks best’ DE Nov 17, 2020. The author has rightly ranked the Indian Army the best in the world. The first virtue that has earned honour and respect to the Army in the world is its apolitical character. It has never associated itself with any political party or ideology, or ever commented over the state of affairs in the country whether good or bad. While in some countries it is Army which runs the state of affairs overtly or covertly. They can make or break any Government as per their choice and interest, and care two hoots for democracy or dictatorship. Pakistan Army for instance has been playing a key role in the affairs of the country since Pakistan came into existence in 1947. Indian Army has earned the distinction of providing timely relief and assistance whenever the country has encountered natural calamities like floods, earthquakes and fire etc. It is not only guarding our borders but also helping civil administration whenever police or paramilitary forces have been unable to check internal disturbances or riots in the country.
It maintains equal respect for soldiers of any faith. No discrimination on basis of caste, colour or religion. It respects core values of respect, equality, competence and efficiency. Every Indian is proud of its Army.
