NEW DELHI, Apr 15:
India today expressed strong protest over the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) supporting right of self-determination of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Reacting strongly to view taken over the issue, in a communique issued by the organisation after its two-day meeting in Istanbul, New Delhi has asked the OIC to refrain from any making the ‘misleading’ reference to Kashmir in future.
The OIC Communique called on India to implement numerous UN resolutions on Kashmir. It said the final disposition of the state will be made in accordance with the UN Security Council resolutions and aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
Strongly rejecting that stance taken by the Islamic nations’ body, Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Vikas Swarup asserted that Jammu and Kashmir was an integral part of India.
“We note with utmost regret that the Final Communique adopted at the conclusion of the 13th Islamic Summit of the Heads of State/Government of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States held at Istanbul, Turkey on 14-15 April includes factually incorrect and misleading references pertaining to the Indian State of Jammu and Kashmir, which is an integral part of India”, Mr Swaroop said.
”We completely reject all such references regarding matters internal to India, on which the OIC has no locus stand..,..We further advise the OIC to refrain from making such references in future,” he said. (UNI)
