India register second straight win in Junior Asia Cup

KUANTAN (MALAYSIA): India went through some anxious dying moments before eking out a close 5-4 win over hosts Malaysia and register their second consecutive win of the eighth junior men’s Asia Cup hockey tournament, here today.

With this win India rises to the top of the table in Pool A with two straight wins and will play China in their last encounter of the group stage on Tuesday.

India had defeated Japan 2-1 in their tournament opener yesterday.

Malaysia drew the first blood with an opening minute field goal leaving India on the back foot in the beginning of the match.

India, however, came back strongly to level the scores within 10 minutes through forward Mandeep Singh. (AGENCIES)
