India, Pakistan discuss peace along LoC during flag meeting

JAMMU : India and Pakistan today in cordial ambiance discussed issues especially related to the infiltration bid and other issues pertaining to peace along Line of Control (loC) at a Brigade Commander level flag meeting held at Chakan-De-Bagh in border district Poonch of Jammu and Kashmir. According to defence spokesperson Lt Col Munish Mehta, a flag meeting at Battalion Commander’s level was held between India and Pakistan at the Chakan-Da-Bagh crossing point near Poonch. The meeting started at around 1130 hrs and culminated in cordial ambiance at 1250 hrs during which both sides led by Brigadier level officers discussed various issues related to the cease fire agreement as well as the need to improve responsiveness of existing communication channels. During the meeting, the Indian Army’s concerns about the recent infiltration attempt in the Krishna Ghati Sector on January 13 were conveyed in strong terms to the Pakistan delegation, PRO Defence Jammu said.
The talks were held in a cordial environment and both sides have agreed to give due consideration to the issues raised by the other side, army spokesperson said, further adding, this meeting is another step forward in the Confidence Building Measures agreed to by both sides during the DGMOs’ level talk held at Wagah on December 24.
Earlier a brigadier-level flag meeting of the Indian and Pakistan armies was held on December 17 on the Line of Control (LoC) at same venue in Poonch district.
