India open to Pak team examining its witness in 26/11 case

NEW DELHI: India is open to the examination of its witnesses by a Pakistan team in connection with the Mumbai terror attack trial.

Confirming that a request from Islamabad had come for allowing examination of witnesses, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Vikas Swarup said here today, ”If Pak needs some more witnesses to be examined, we are open to it,” adding that ”We are considering their request.”

Mr Swarup, however, did not commit anything on whether the witnesses would be going to Pakistan to depose before the anti-terror court where the matter is being heard. He rather said last time their Pakistan team had come to India itself.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan had last week written to the Ministry of External Affairs here for sending 24 witnesses to Lahore to depose before the anti-terror court. (AGENCIES)
