NEW DELHI:
India has strongly taken up the issue of Chinese decision to build infrastructural projects in the disputed territory of Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK), Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar today confirmed.
The issue was raised through diplomatic channel here in New Delhi with the Chinese Ambassador and in Beijing by the Indian Ambassador. India’s apprehension about Chinese projects in the disputed territory has came to fore today, just ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s three day visit to China, starting from May 14.
To a question whether India has raised its objection to the development, Mr jaishankar said during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Pakistan last month, several infrastructural projects were signed between Islamabad and Beijing, that included projects in the PoK.
“We taken up the issue with the Chinese authorities in Delhi through diplomatic channel, that really as much I can say,” the Foreign Secretary said. After getting input from one of his official, Mr Jaishankar added, “It was also taken up by our ambassador in Beijing.” (AGENCIES)
