JAMMU, July 29: Sikh United Front (SUF), J&K has said that India must take up the issue of safety of Sikhs and their religious places in Pakistan forcefully with the Pak Government.
An Emergency meeting of Sikh United Front J&K and an amalgam of various Sikh organizations was held under the chairmanship of Sudershan Singh Wazir, chairman SUF, It was joined by Dayal Singh Wazir Chairman Shiromani Akali Dal J&K, HS Raina Ex -general secretary DGPC Jammu, Mohinder Singh chief organizer Bhai Kaniya Nishkam Sewa Society J&K and Ex- Member DGPC Jammu, Darbinder Singh president Shiromani Akali Dal J&K and Kulwant Singh joint secretary Shiromani Akali Dal, J&K.
While speaking in the meeting, Sudershan Singh Wazir condemned the attitude of J&K Police of harassing the Sikh boys and their families by interrogating them on the charges of Referendum 2020, held that Sikhs had sacrificed a lot in the independence of India and also played their due  role in the  development of the country after independence. Patriotism of Sikhs  is second to none as during the time  of any emergency Sikhs are at the forefront may that be wars, natural calamities or disasters. Sikhs are serving at every position in Government whether that may be union ministries,  armed forces, administrative posts or in judicial services.
In the time of COVID-19  Sikhs have played their part by serving Langar to needy and poor peoples which was appreciated by peoples, organisations all over the world. So J&K police should keep all these  things in mind that Sikhs can never be involved in any activity which goes against the interest of this nation. This kind of treatment meted with Sikhs can never be tolerated and if this harassment continues then a strong agitation will be commenced throughout the J&K.
Wazir condemned attempts to convert a historic Gurudawara into a mosque in Pakistan  which is site of martyrdom of Bhai Taru Singh ji at Naulakha Bazaar in Lahore, Pakistan has been claiming the place as Masjid Shahid Ganj and attempts are being made to convert it to a mosque. Gurdwara Shahidi Asthan Bhai Taru Ji is a historical Gurdwara where Bhai Taru Ji made supreme sacrifice in 1745. The Gurdwara is a place of reverence and considered sacred by the Sikh community. This incident has been viewed with grave concern around the world.
Wazir called for justice for the minority Sikh community in Pakistan and requested the Indian Government to take this matter immediately with Pakistan authorities to safeguard Sikh people and their religious places.
