NEW DELHI, May 4: Speaking at an Intellectual Meet organized by “Forum for Awareness of National Security” (FANS) here today, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Development of North-Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances,Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh said, India is destined to lead the world and in very near future, sooner than later, India will assume a role which would be emulated by the rest of the nations.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, the indicators of this emerging phenomenon have become more than visible in the last few months from the manner in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi is receiving an overwhelmingly enthusiastic response in whichever country he visits. The point to be realized is that this kind of response is happening on two accounts… first, the imposing presence of Narendra Modi among the world’s Heads of States, which projects him as somebody who has the potential to lead from the front. The second factor behind the eulogizing response being received by India is that, unlike in the past, there is a political dispensation which is stable with two-third majority and is constantly moving forward on a fast-track.
Time has arrived, Dr Jitendra Singh said, when India would not have to motivate or convince the neighbouring countries in the subcontinent and the South Asia to come round to its point of view, but on the contrary, all these nations will be constrained to fall in line and follow the path chosen by India. India’s supremacy, in the years to come, would not be established through military might or aggressive posturing, but sheerly on the strength of its economic, scientific and academic excellence, he added. Citing an example, he said, for instance, even before developing a SAARC satellite, India has already assumed a lead role in space upmanship by providing vital communication, navigation and disaster management infrastructure to the SAARC countries. It is no small achievement that the disaster management capabilities recently demonstrated by India in Nepal have left even developed nations like China wondering where they had faltered while India had suddenly forged ahead in a big way, he added.
India has already arrived, said Dr. Jitendra Singh, and it is now for us to prepare ourselves for the great leap forward.
Speaking on the occasion, thinker and ideologue Indresh Kumar recommended extended role for SAARC and dominant participation of India in the community of SAARC nations. He said, time has come for India to take over the responsibility of wider role to address the economic and security concerns of the region.
Indresh suggested wider discussion to explore the possibilities of setting up a SAARC capital and a SAARC University with India as the nucleus. This will also help in greater integration of the region and at the same time consolidate the forces of national integration within India, he added.
From his experience and study of Jammu & Kashmir, Indresh Kumar suggested methods of non-violent motivation to deal with divergent elements so that they could be made to see the reason and become part of the great “Make in India” mission.
Earlier, General Secretary FANS, Naveen Kumar welcomed the guests and presented a resume of the various activities organized by the Forum from time to time.
Among others who spoke on the occasion were former Delhi Police Commissioner R.S. Gupta, former RAW Chief Sanjeev Tripathi, former Director (IB) Yashwardhan Azad and former IG BSF D.S. Rathore.
