Independent legislator writes to CM for special Assembly session

SRINAGAR, May 29: Independent legislator from Langate and Awami Ittehad Party president Abdul Rashid Sheikh today said that he has written a letter to the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to call a special Legislative Assembly session to pass a resolution demanding complete restoration of the autonomy.
Rashid said since the special status of the State has been gradually eroded, it is imperative that the Assembly takes steps to restore it in its original form as per the Constitution and safeguard it.
“The State Legislative Assembly must make it clear that autonomy is not the final resolution of Jammu and Kashmir, but complete restoration of it will pave way in that direction,” he said.
He urged upon Omar to consider his suggestion immediately “as any further delay will amount to strengthen the voices against” the special status of the State with the Union of India.
