Srinagar, Dec 5: An independent candidate from South Kashmir today alleged that his nomination papers were rejected under the political influence of PAGD candidate contesting from Bijbehara.
Tariq Ahmad Shah had filed DDC nomination paper from Bijbehara block, however, he alleged that his papers were rejected despite completing all the required formalities
A Government employee, Shah said that he had tendered resignation to his concerned department which accepted and despite that, he said, his papers were rejected without any grounds.
“On December 1, I submitted my papers and on the next, I was called in for the screening; I was told that my papers have been accepted and was allotted Football as a symbol,” he told reporters here.
He alleged that while the Returning Officer (RO) did not inform him about the rejection of his paper, he rather was informed by the candidate in opposition about the same.
“I resigned from the Government job. Did all the formalities; the next day, the people in opposition informed me that my form has been rejected; I called the RO, he did not receive my calls,” he said.
He said that there is a hand of PAGD which has allotted the seat to the PDP’s Tasaduq Husain Veeri, son of Abdul Rehman Veeri, as the officials, according to Shah, told him that they were pressurized by the higher authorities.
He alleged that Tasaduq Husain Veeri continues to be a Government employee and has not resigned which he should have.
