Independence Day celebrated with zeal, enthusiasm

JAMMU, Aug 17: 72nd Independence Day was celebrated with great zeal, enthusiasm and patriotic fervor by various educational institutions, besides political and social organizations.
The Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and gaiety at Gandhi Memorial College of Education, Raipur, Bantalab Jammu. The celebrations began with Flag hoisting by AK Raina, Member Education (HESK), SK Raina, Member Finance (HESK), MK Jalali, Member EB (HESK), Prof Savita Raina, Member EB (HESK), along with the College Principal, Prof Meenu Khazanchi and Prof HL Misri. It was followed by National Anthem. The students presented a captivating cultural bonanza which included number of heart throbbing dances and sang melodious patriotic songs.
The occasion was celebrated with zeal and enthusiasm in the premises of Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Jaganoo. The Flag hoisting ceremony was performed by chief guest, Suresh Parihar (Naib Tehsildar, Jaganoo). The students of host school and other surrounding schools presented colourful cultural items.
Government Mixed Higher Secondary School, Roop Nagar, Camp Muthi, Jammu celebrated the Day with pomp and show. The function began with unfurling of Tricolor by Principal of the School, Purnima Dulloo. All the students and staff members of the school attended the function. Students also presented come cultural activities.
On the occasion, a function was organized at Government Middle School, Lower Thathar. Chief guests, Joginder Kumar and Suram Singh unfurled the Tricolor. It was followed by some cultural events, in which students of the school participated.
Independence Day was celebrated in Rising Star Army Pre Primary School by paying tribute to disabled soldiers who were incapacitated in the line of duty while defending our motherland. A disabled veteran, Honorary Capt Kamlesh Kumar of 4th Battalion, JK Rifles, was the chief guest. He was felicitated by the school children with deep gratitude. A ‘Painting Competition’ for the children was organized. The tiny tots also put up an enthralling entertainment show based on patriotic themes. The disabled veteran along with the Principal hoisted the Tricolour.
POWERGRID Northern Region Transmission System -II celebrated the occasion with patriotism and enthusiasm. Flag hoisting, cultural and sports programmes were organized at all its establishments across the Region. At its Regional Headquarters, Grid Bhawan, Jammu, JP Singh, Executive Director, NRTS -II, was the chief guest. He unfurled the National Flag in presence of senior officials, employees, their families and children. Various cultural programmes were presented by employees and their family members in which national fervor and patriotism were showcased.
The J&K AAP celebrated 72nd Independence Day at its Head office, Chhani Himmat Jammu with great zeal and fervor. The Tricolour was unfurled by Anita Gupta, Incharge, Jammu West Assembly Constituency and the function was attended by various party activists/workers and local people.
To celebrate the occasion, Janta Dal Secular, J&K organized a simple Flag hoisting ceremony at Nagrota where the Tricolour was unfurled by Ram Rattan Sharma, senior vice-president of JDS, J&K. On the occasion, activists of the party and other people paid tributes to our freedom fighters by singing patriotic songs.
The Day was celebrated by JTC and Soan Kashmir Front at Jagti with pomp and show. On the occasion, president of the Front, Shadi Lal Pandita unfurled the National Flag.
The celebrations were also held at Laxmi Vihar Tumal, where a function was organized jointly by Laxmi Vihar Welfare Committee and Civil Society. A large number of people attended the function. The Tricolour was hoisted by C L Garoo, president, Welfare Committee and Sanjay Kohli, president, Civil Society. They threw light on the freedom movement of the country and paid tributes to freedom fighters.
To mark the occasion, a function was organized jointly by All J&K Gorkha Sabha, Gorkh Nagar Jammu, Shri Guru Ravi Dass Sabha, Bahu Fort, Jammu and Dogra Sabha, Gorkh Nagar, Jammu at main chowk Gorkha Nagar, Jammu. The National Flag was hoisted jointly by Sham Lal Basson, chairman, Dogra Sabha, Gorkha Nagar, Jammu, and heads and ex-heads of other sabhas.
The 72nd Independence Day was celebrated at Om Nagar, Udheywalla with great enthusiasm. Vikas Dewan, a social activist, unfurled the National Flag in the presence of prominent citizens and enthusiastic children.
