Sir,
We, the aspirants of MDS who appeared in the recently held NEET MDS exam would like to put it into the notice of the concerned authorities that for over 3000 aspirants there are only 18 MDS seats in Govt Dental College Srinagar. Govt Dental College Jammu is yet to debut as far as MDS is concerned. We would like to put more emphasis on GDC Jammu as it has been 16 years since 2004 when GDC Jammu started the BDS course. As of now it has got a modern state of art campus but is yet to start MDS course. It was in 2018 when the then Health Minister Bali Bhagat had announced that MDS course will be started there in 2018. But nothing happened. With overall lack of employment opportunities for BDS doctors in Jammu and Kashmir, this miniscule MDS quota is akin to rubbing salt on our wounds. We hope our request will be acceded to and MDS quota in both Govt Dental Colleges of Jammu and Srinagar will be given a respectable and necessary increase from this session itself. The counseling for these courses is to begin in February.
