Increase flow of credit to farmers: DC Leh

Leh, June 16: District Consultative Committee / District Level Review Committee meeting of Bankers of Leh district for the quarter ending March 2015 was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Leh Saugat Biswas.
The Deputy Commissioner urged upon the bankers to increase the flow of credits to the farmers and other interested units and individuals of Leh district.
He directed the Deputy Director Employment to verify the units of JK Self Employment Schemes with the representatives of Lead Bank and JKEDI and submit a detailed report.
He directed both bankers and Agriculture Department to put extra efforts to achieve maximum coverage of Kissan Credit Cards in the district and directed the Chief Agriculture Officer to submit a report of KCC and urged the bankers and line departments to ensure 100% coverage of farmers under KCC scheme to uplift the people of weaker sections of the society.
Earlier, Lead Bank Manager, Leh Abdul Rashid Sofi apprised the meeting about the performance of banks in Leh in terms of Deposits/Advances, achievements of Government sponsored schemes like KCC, JKSES, KVIB, DIC, KVIC, ST/SC.
