JAMMU, Mar 4: The ‘Dream Project’ of A. K. Thatai, Principal Commissioner of Income Tax (PCIT), J&K, Jammu is going to be a reality soon as the construction work of the prestigious Income Tax Colony at Resham Ghar is almost finished.
The final modelities of handing over the colony to the Department were discussed today by the AGM, NBCC Ltd., Mohd. Rafiq with the Principal Commissioner of Income Tax, J&K when the latter visited the construction site to take stock of things. Mr Thatai expressed his satisfaction about the various aspects of construction work being carried out by the NBCC, which is a Government owned Construction Company.
It may be mentioned that the construction work of Income Tax Colony had started in the year 2012 when Mr Thatai took over as Commissioner of Income Tax, Jammu. He had been taking a very keen interest in the progress of construction work so that the Income Tax Department may have its own modern department houses to accommodate their senior and middle level officers who come on posting from out station and normally find it very difficult to rent a decent house within their house rent entitlement.
“This is a staff welfare measure which we are going to accomplish so as to make them comfortable and in turn should devote more time towards their office work. This would increase their efficiency,” Mr Thatai said.
This colony would also have a state of the art guest house for visiting officers and other high dignitaries from out station which also contains a club house and a 160 seater modern restaurant within the premises.
Mr Thatai was also accompanied by Rohit Mehra, Joint Commissioner of Income Tax, Ashwani Kumar Sharma, Income Tax Officer (HQ), Jasbir Singh, Deepak Sharma, Daulat Ram and Lucky Sharma.
