Inclusiveness a way of living in Indian civilization: Dy CM

JAMMU, Dec 23: Maintaining that India is a nation where each section of the society and community is being treated equally, the Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Nirmal Singh today said that same is ratified by the concept of mutual brotherhood and peaceful co-existence, which has been the hall mark of Indian civilization.
The Deputy Chief Minister, was addressing the people during twin functions held in relation to Christmas celebrations at Jammu Municipal Corporation and at Presentation Convent School, Jammu.
The function at Convent School organized by Diocese of Jammu-Srinagar was attended by MLA Jammu East, Rajesh Gupta, senior officers including Additional Director Generals of Police, S. M. Sahai, Navin Agarwal, IGPs Danish Rana, H. K. Lohia, DIG Jammu, Ashkoor Wani, intellectuals, academia and people from different walks of life.
Dr. Singh said that the concept of inclusiveness is a way of living in the Indian civilization and history is replete with instances wherein people belonging to different sections and communities have been treating each other with respect. “The Concept of Serva Dharam Sambav is being strictly adhered to since times immemorial and equal opportunities in every sphere of life are being given to everyone”, he maintained.
The Deputy Chief Minister, appreciating the role of Christian Missionaries in spreading education in this part of the country said that it is historic and has been appreciated by every section of the society. He said that they have been rendering services in other areas as well which is highly commendable and they are still contributing their bit.
Dr. Singh also witnessed a cultural programme organized by schools and cut the customary Christmas cake on the occasion.
While addressing a large gathering at Jammu Municipal Corporation, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the message of peace and brotherhood as propagated by Christ is more relevant in present times and we should ensure that it is propagated and preached by everyone.
Referring to various initiatives being undertaken by the Prime Minister, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the Swach Bharat  Abhiyan is a programme of high utility as it inculcates sense of cleanliness and environment friendliness in us and shall go a long way in ensuring that our surroundings are neat and clean.
While responding to demands projected by JMC employees, the Deputy Chief Minister said that these would be addressed in a time bound manner. He said that JMC is doing a commendable job in ensuring overall cleanliness and sanitation in the city.
Joint Commissioner, JMC R. S. Jamwal also spoke on the occasion and highlighted recent initiatives undertaken by the Corporation.
