JAMMU, Apr 7: Lambasting the Jammu based ministers for their failure to ensure incorporation of pressing Jammu based issues in the PM’s package, chairman of NPP and former minister Harsh Dev Singh has sought the review of the package so as to ensure the inclusion of construction of much needed flyovers in Jammu and beautification projects of the city of temples in the said package.
In a press statement here Singh regretted that repeated announcements by the Govt to decongest the city by provision of flyovers have fallen flat with no action having been initiated by the Government to tackle the ever growing menace and no demand projected by the mandated leaders of Jammu for funding of the same under PM’s special package.
He said that increased traffic on city roads in the recent past due to thousands of new vehicles hitting the road coupled with the additional load that has hit Jammu due to mass migration, has intensified the traffic problems in the city of temples, thereby aggravating the woes of common man.
Rapping the Government for its despicable apathy and criminal negligence,
Harsh Dev called upon the Jammu based ministers to wake up from their slumber and assert in the face of growing public concern and resentment and ensure inclusion of flyover projects in much hyped PM’s package. He pleaded for flyovers from Shakuntla Crossing to Rehari Chungi -Amphalla extended up to New Plot-Janipur; Jewel Chowk to Canal Road, Balwinder Chowk to Rehari, Panama Chowk to Narwal, extension of Flyover to Satwari besides others in view of pressing public demand.
He said no mention was made of Heritage sites of Jammu including Mubarak Mandi, Bagh-e- Bahu, beautification of Raghunath Bazar and the historical temples of Jammu, beautification of embankments of river Tawi on the pattern of Jhelum besides development of Patnitop, Surinsar, Mansar, Sanasar etc as tourist resorts in the said package.
Accusing the ruling alliance for playing fraud for the people of Jammu, Singh claimed that the PM’s package included mostly the previously sanctioned schemes including road, power projects, IIT and IIM etc. He said that while the proposal for ring roads and power projects had been processed in UPA Govt’s tenure, IIT and IIM were already announced during 2014-15.
